‘The Wall’ Game Role: Development / Staples, Inc.

This game was part of a web site promoting Staples' ‘The Wall’ commercial.

In the commercial, an Emperor gets trapped on the wrong side of a wall that looks very similar to the Great Wall of China. We decided to put a game together where the goal was to get the Emperor back over the wall, by, well, launching him over it.

I developed this game and worked on a few animations, and the graphic design and majority of animations were created by Will Jacomme.

Game Show Environment Role: Development / Staples, Inc.

This interactive Quiz Game was for the Bi-yearly Staples Global Sales meeting in Las Vegas.

This game had 4 touch screens stations, communicating scores and status between the players' and the main server. All the clients were written in Flash, and they communicated with XML messages using a PHP socket server.

Because of the complexity of this setup, there's no easy way to demonstrate the game on this site. The following videos will give you an idea how the game plays. The first video shows the game being played by a group of people. The second video gives you a close up view of the action, showing you 3 player screens and the M.C. screen. Keep in mind, people playing the game would be using touch screens, and the M.C. would be using a remote to advance the game (not the mouse as seen in the video).

‘Copy Cat’ Game Role: Development / Staples, Inc.

This game was part of a web site promoting Staples' ‘Copy Cat’ commercial.

The game is sort of a clone of Simon... the cat presses it's paw on some pictures, and your goal is to copy what the cat did. Get it!? Copy cat!

Since the theme of this game was cats, we decided to make the theme over-the-top-insanely-cute. We hoped that it would come off as funny. Hmmmmm, well, it came off as insanely-cute at least...

Development was done by me, illustrations by Will Jacomme.

Shipper Game Role: Design & Development / Freelance

This is based on the classic arcade game Tapper. I put together when I was learning game development in Flash. The game is incomplete, but there's enough done for you to get the idea of how it works.

Ticker for Security Center Role: Development / Staples, Inc

This ticker counted up the number of people who have been affected by data loss.

This didn't require a server backend to store the number, this uses estimation to guesstimate the approximate value from a starting number and date that is set in the Flash file.

Memory Game Role: Development / Staples, Inc

A memory game for a Staples Flash banner ad.

Scroller for Holiday Center Role: Development / Staples, Inc

A looping scroller that increases or decreases speed based on the distance of your mouse from the center. Oh, and don't ask about the character photos, it would take too much time to explain...

Paging Banner Role: Development / Staples, Inc

A banner that loops between several screens and allows you to jump to another screen, or pause the current screen.

This is built to pull in external SWF banners and combine them into one file. Changing the order of the banners, or adding/removing a banner, is a simple matter of editing the XML file on the server.
